Brilliant Idea #1: FR-Sublime
Someone needs to be the first to put one of these:
Into one of these:
And get this vanity plate:

The foil here is that the K motor is meant for FWD applications, an F motor would be much easier to swap since it’s already oriented for RWD. The problem is, then, that your car would remain an FRS.

Well of course the swap would likely be more difficult than an F motor, but the uniqueness is what would make it even cooler.
Putting K-series motors in RWD applications definitely isn’t unheard of, and surprisingly common for an originally transverse motor swapped into a RWD platform:
It’s even been done on some that originally came with an F series motor. ;)
The F20c/F22c are awesome motors too, I just like the idea of the k-series swap. Also, the combo of a K24 with a K20 head has a lot of torque potential, and gets the added benefit over the F motor of i-VTEC.
Plus, it plays into my theme of a vanity plate that’s also a hat tip to a Sublime song. haha
And the car remaining an FR-S certainly isn’t a problem. ;)

Interesting. I’m not really up on my Honda stuff, I wonder if it shares a common block, or at least block architecture, with the K. I have a coworker who says his last car was an Integra that he swapped an “S2000 motor” into. I always assumed he meant a K20, but I asked him and he said he pulled it from a wrecked S2k. Maybe they all have the same or similar motor mounts, which would make it easy to go between FWD and RWD.
But if you can easily do a RWD K, then “KRS ONE” would be awesome!

I know because of KRS-One

F20/22c motors have been swapped into FWD cars for awhile now too.
Those Honda guys are always putting different motors in their cars. haha
Idk that the K swap into the FR-S would necessarily be easy, since it’d be the first one ever (AFAIK). Going from one manf. to another adds added difficulty (wiring/engine management probably being the toughest part). Getting custom motor mounts made can be pricey, but certainly something a good machine shop could make.
K Miata is actually a small company owned by a Chicagoland track guy who first did the swap on his own car, and then got enough interest to start producing kits for others to do the swap themselves.

Yeah, I started googling around after posting that and found that there have been a fair number of F20 -> FWD swaps, and now there’s even a company that makes a kit to make the swap easier.
Hondas are crazy, they are like legos, just mix and match parts. I had a friend in the Navy who had a “mini-me” swap (I think that’s what they call it) where it was a Civic coupe with a B20 short block, B16 VTEC head, and B18 Integra ECU. It was a surprisingly quick little car.
